Compared to Hero Points and ISO-8, Command Points are a relatively recent addition to Marvel Puzzle Quest. MPQ Command Points (CP for short) have quickly gained a reputation as one of the best ways to get 4-star covers, though. Optimizing your MPQ CP gain and spending those command points properly is a key strategic part of Marvel Puzzle Quest. So I just came back this week after about a 5 month break and have some CP saved up already and was wondering if it would be better to gamble for 4* covers or just use them to try and top off covers for some of the powerful 3*'s like blade, thor, BP and so on.
Feels like I'd be better off covering the 3*'s to have more powerhouses for earning 4*'s to transition that way (which seems lot easier now, I've gotten 6 covers since i've been back), but I'd like to hear some opinions since I've been out of the loop.

Age UnconfirmedPosts: 1,005Chairperson of the BoardsThat's heavily reliant on the status of your roster, although I would still argue that buying legendary tokens is still a better idea. If you manage to pull enough covers to make a top tier 4* usable, you've already done yourself more good than any 3*. Likewise if you manage to pull a couple of covers for the same 5* character. If you manage to pull a couple of Logan covers, you can bypass the entire 4* tier! Yay for grossly overpowered characters attainable only by luck!

Have to agree with El Satanno here, having Old Man Logan in a usable state is pretty much the only thing that matters. I have a HUGE roster of 15 champed 4*s, all 40 champed 3*s and unless I'm bored or Wolverine is locked out, my team ALWAYS consists of Old Man Logan and (X) (Iron fist usually). It's really silly...he's not even fully covered. 5/1/1, lvl 360, and he's so far ahead of every other character on my roster that playing with anyone else doesn't make sense. It's really kind of stupid that one single, unfinished character is so much better than my other 65 fully leveled characters, but...that's where the game is right now.

Funny, I thought OML / IF was my little secret! Looks like everyone who can uses it. I have other 5*s, but they don't have enough covers to be useful, so I haven't leveled them up, because I don't want to be in 5* pvp heck.

i will buy my last 3 rulk covers with cp
its 120 per cover, but I rather have one useful cover instead of “progressing“ my 001 chulk to 223 -
Posts: 2,023Chairperson of the BoardsThat's your prerogative. I would rather have 18 chances to advance the 10-12 useful, undercovered 4*s and 5*s on my roster.

Heh, you don't play many Lightning Rounds, do you? Although I always clear the last few seeds with someone beefier than IF because he goes down like a swiss cheese submarine once people start looking for non-seed teams. -

Hey man, I'm in the same boat. I took a long break, and actually sold entire roster before break to make sure I wasn't tempted to keep playing. Now I'm back in and playing mostly with champed 2*, but slowly covermaxing the 3* and making similar decisions.
I've heard enough about ISO drought and obsolete 3* that I think a slightly different approach may be best. You probably don't want to invest CP (or even too much ISO) in Blade or BP, since they'll be underwhelming once you've got 4* going... rather, it'll pay off more in the long run to pump battery characters (Switch, IF, IM40) that will have lasting utility. Folks well into the 4* transition are still enjoying Switch/JG, Fistbuster, IM40/Thora, etc. -

Depends on your roster, goals, playstyle ... and interest in characters. Maybe he just loves Rulk.
Checking my own odds this morning, I see that, between champing and new characters in tokens, my Odds of Pulling Something is up to 79%! Quite an improvement. Was 70% last I looked.
Maybe I should open a few.

- a top5 4*
- my best covered 4*
im in no hurry, have no 5*s, reach 1k regularly in pvp...
just trying that old traditional route... you know, 1...2...3...4... -
Thanks all, I decided to become a degenerate gambler with my CP spending and go for the LTs, pretty happy with pulling a JG, HB and Rulk cover.

Sub-zero a 3* or 5*? Figure they wouldnt want to crowd 4* with two cold-temp characters. Furthermore, will Raiden be a 4* or 5*? Scorpion?
Scooby Doo def a gag 4* released alongside shaggy in Avengers vs the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man pve.
